Biology 40S (BIO40S)
Course Description
Biology 40S is a course focusing on Biodiversity, Evolution, Advanced Genetics, and Molecular Genetics. It is a rigorous continuation of introductory genetics taken in earlier Science courses and extends the learning to the principles and mechanisms of inheritance. In addition, Biology 40S investigates the theory of evolution, classification and conservation of biodiversity, and the structure and function of nucleic acids like DNA and RNA. It is an important component in Life Science studies that lead to careers in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, physical therapy, and many others. Biology 40S is also an important prerequisite for several post-secondary academic programs.
Recommended Prerequisite
- Biology 30S recommended but more important to be a Grade 12 student who has completed a 30-level upper science course
Units Covered
- Advanced Genetics
