Current Topics in First Nations, Metis, and Inuit (CTF40S)

Course Description

An exciting new course opportunity is here at GVC! This course is designed to strengthen the understanding and appreciation of the traditions, cultures, and passions, as well as the current realities of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people of Manitoba, Canada and the world.  Using oral history, story telling and the use of community connections we will explore topics such as self-determination, self-government, language, and cultural reclamation throughout the course. This course will help improve communication, acceptance, inquiry and critical thinking skills, which will allow us all to work in unity towards the post-colonial future envisioned by Indigenous peoples. This course will help you with post secondary entrance and is recognized for entrance scholarships for all major schools within Manitoba.
