ELA 20F for Creative Writers (ELC20F)

Course Description

Some of us feel the need to write. Stories, poetry, plays...perhaps even a novel. If you want to do more creative writing in an English course, this is the course for you. The Creative Writing Course will have some of the same requirements as any Grade 10 English course at GVC – reading, research essay, Shakespeare – but it will also allow you to work on creative writing through more instruction and practice. You will be able to connect and develop with other creative writers. This course sets high expectations and provides learners with a strong literacy foundation prior to moving into the Comprehensive, Literary, and Transactional Focus courses in Grades 11 and 12. The Creative Writers course will develop skills related to the six language arts: reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and representing. Assignments will be designed to assess core outcomes of the English Language Arts Grade 10 curriculum, and students will be awarded an English Language Arts 20F credit.
