Introduction to Calculus Advanced Math (CALC)

Course Description

This single semester course is designed to prepare students for first year university Calculus. It is for motivated students that have taken or are taking Pre-Calculus Math 40S. The course stresses the development of skills in understanding the properties of functions and their role in many different areas of mathematics. Introduction to Calculus/Advanced Mathematics provides a detailed study of the derivative function and its application to curve sketching and max/minimum problem solving. Motion problems involving distance, velocity and acceleration are investigated using the derivative function. Limit theory and continuity are used to develop the derivative and an introduction to integral calculus and its use in problem solving is studied. This course is designed to provide students with an excellent background necessary to further explore calculus courses at the university and to make it easier for students to enter universities in other provinces. Courses include ITC45S and ADM45S.
