ELA: Comprehensive Focus 40S (ECF40S)
Course Description
English Comprehensive Focus integrates and extends skills learned in Grades 9-11. This course continues to develop students’ competence and confidence in speaking, writing, reading, listening, viewing and representing. Students will practice a variety of writing styles, with emphasis on persuasive, narrative, and expository writing. Writing opportunities may include essays, structured responses, and short stories. Reading selections include a variety of materials and emphasize the development of higher order thinking skills. Presentations, major projects, individual and group work are all part of this course, which helps to prepare students for communication in both the workplace and other real life situations including post secondary education. Students are expected to be self-motivated, to be conscientious in attendance, and to take ownership for their success.
