ELA: Literary Focus 30S (ELF30S)
Course Description
This course provides learners with specialized curriculum in which students improve their reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, and thinking skills. Exploring aspects of personal identity, the course emphasizes literary and dramatic materials. Students will study a variety of literary works, including poetry, novels, short stories and Shakespearean plays. Writing activities and small group work are integral parts of the course. Students write a literary essay using academic techniques and university-accepted formats. This specialized course is intended for those students who enjoy reading and for those whose post-secondary studies will include an emphasis on arts courses (English, history, philosophy, education, Bible and religious studies, drama, art, psychology, etc.). An interest in studying literature is highly recommended.
