Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S (PCM40S)
Course Description
Pre-Calculus Mathematics is designed for students who intend to study calculus and related mathematics as part of post-secondary education. The Pre-Calculus Mathematics curriculum is comprised primarily of high-level study of theoretical mathematics with an emphasis on problem solving and mental mathematics, supported by cumulative exercises and testing. It builds on the topics studied in Grade 10 Introduction to Applied and Pre-Calculus Mathematics and Pre-Calculus Mathematics 30S. Students are required to learn mathematical concepts through practice and regular homework. Many of the questions and problems on exercises, tests and examinations can be expected to be different from those presented in classes. To support understanding of mathematical concepts, students are encouraged to register for both Applied Mathematics 40S and Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S.
